I love my workshop...it has everything I need to make my jewellery...although there is always room for more tools !!
For me it's all about the making...working with the metal, soldering, cutting, drilling and hammering, I love it all. Finishing a piece that I've often spent hours on and handing it over to its new owner is a lovely feeling, a lot of work and a small part of me goes into everything I make.
The workshop began almost three years ago when my lovely friend Prue decided that it was time for me to stop thinking about it and start doing it. When We started the workshop was just an empty shell, no heat, loads of cobwebs and an awful carpet with its own eco-system.
But under the carpet was a quarry tile floor and after much scrubbing it came up lovely. We put in a wood burning stove so we are really toasty even on the coldest days and gave the walls a coat of paint or two.
Most of the fittings in the workshop have been made or restored to fit. The benches were built by a friend who is a fantastic cabinet maker, they have lovely oak tops and loads of space to work. My husband made me a beautiful solid oak chunky table where I sit to do my design work and talk to clients. Even the display cabinets are second hand and re-vamped to fit.
It's a lovely space to work in. So if you fancy a peek at what I make and how it's made, pop in for a browse...I also make pretty good coffee !!
